Job Description

This position is responsible for conducting research and generating new ideas for advanced technology that can be integrated into golf club designs.  This includes combining conceptual research ideas with playability, durability, aesthetic, manufacturing and marketing requirements that contribute to the finished project design.


  • Lead research projects to develop technology to support golf club designs
  • Complex FEA modeling of high strain rate high deformation dynamic impacts including nonlinear materials
  • Participate in cross functional teams to evaluate design, development, manufacturing, and legal and marketing issues
  • Contribute to and participate in improvements in design processes and standards
  • Raise issues that may affect the success of the product and participate in the resolution of those issues
  • Lead product and performance durability testing
  • Follow design procedures and design standards
  • Work with team members to define performance and durability design requirements
  • Collaborate with vendors/suppliers
  • Provide status reporting and time recording
  • Conduct design reviews as needed

Experience and Education: 

  • 4+ years’ experience in providing research capabilities in a development and production environment
  • Advanced degree in Applied Physics or Engineering Physics, PhD is preferred
  • Experience with complex FEA modeling of high strain rate high deformation dynamic impacts including nonlinear materials
  • Familiarity/basic programming skills in C+, SQL and Matlab
  • Golf industry related experience a plus 

Skills Required: 

  • Solid critical thinking and analysis skills
  • Strong knowledge of golf club design features critical to performance, and testing and evaluation methods
  • Knowledge of the physics related to golf club performance, and associated terminology
  • Demonstrated self-starter, and comfortable working in fast paced environment
  • Strong relationship, communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with internal and external teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
